The Knowledge Exchange has shared this research report which presents the findings of research that sought to explore how young Londoners (16–25) perceive, access, and use green spaces for their mental health and wellbeing.

It presents the findings of a literature review and the London context.

The findings of the research cover the number of young people that reported using parks and green spaces alone; the frequency of visits to green spaces and amount of time spent there; the reasons for visiting green space; the importance given to green spaces.

The findings are discussed under three key themes: uses and preferences; mental health and wellbeing; accessibility, community, and safety.

Finally, the report sets out a number of recommendations for the environment/green space sector, the health sector, the education sector and employers.
