Nature-based early childhood education and children’s social, emotional and cognitive development: A mixed methods systematic review  has been published 13 May 2022 in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. It has been shared by Shared by MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, University of Glasgow.

The review synthesises evidence on associations between nature-based early childhood education (ECE) and children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.

The authors conclude that nature-based ECE may improve some childhood development outcomes, which are summarised in the abstract.

However, more high-quality experimental designs are needed to explore further possible pathways connecting nature-based ECE to childhood development.
