Pandemic leaves 1.1m teenagers unhappy with their lives

Youthlink Scotland report on a survey by The Children’s Society of just over 2,000 UK children aged 10-17. It found that 18% of children were dissatisfied with their lives overall. That is a marked increase in a figure which has ranged from 10% to 13% over the last five years. Other young people also described how the situation had made them think more about the environment and climate change and how they want to do more about this in the future (pp 21-22 of the Report). It also references a 2020 report by the Children’s Commissioner for Wales which suggests some benefits reported by children included spending more time with family and outdoors.
