The National Lottery Heritage Fund has announced £2m to create paid opportunities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the nature sector. This is intended as a lasting legacy for the Queen’s Jubilee year.

New to Nature will provide paid work placements for at least 70 young people from diverse backgrounds to undertake a range of environmental roles. Organisations are invited to act as ‘host employers’ to provide high quality 12 month work placements for young people. The primary focus should be on

  • biodiversity and nature recovery
  • urban green spaces
  • education and nature connection

Further eligibility criteria can be found here.
